Personally i always buy original physical albums. But downloads are becoming increasing popular. So what are your opinions on the music downloads? And are they the way forward in the way we get our music?

Yes, especially for less well known artists. The well known artists have ripped people off for long enough. They still charge way too much to download a song. Maybe as more less well known artists get their work on the web and use new ideas to market their music - there will be more competition and prices will come down. You can get a mixer now to plug in to a laptop and turn it in to a recording studio - so it's easier to record tracks and cheaper. making you own music videos and burning them to DVD isn't too hard either. My ADSL is about to go up to 8 Mbs so I'll be able to download video easier. That should make there big stars a little smaller and the small unknown singers - can make some money now. Some may even give away their music on web sites and settle for the money from the advertising. Look at my website and click the "MegansingstheBlues" logo. Go to Megan's page and listen to her songs. Right click the MP3 files and then saveas to download copies. There are 5 tracks to choose from. Or download all 5! Please sign the guest book and of course give me top answer!

You can download music eather in part as an appetizer to buy it or whole by buying it.
As we are now in a digital age with computers and connected all over the world through the internet, downloading will be soon the only way to get the songs i think.
But as always, there are some who will take advantage of that, by downloading illegally as you might have heard all over the news.
So downloading is good for getting things faster, meaning faster to the customer, also the singer will be known faster around the world. If the music indusrty is finding a way to spread themusic safer, meaning no pirating or less possible, there will be no record or music shop very soon.

Music downloads are the future.

One can purchase the music without having to leave his or her home. Additionally, the music is downloaded immediately and there is no hassle of waiting in line or waiting for it to be delivered.

The cheaper cost is also passed down to consumers because we do not have to pay for the physical medium, plastic, or cover for the songs.

This can also be beneficial for independent artists because they do not have to go through with the silly music industry. They can self promote their songs through the internet where audiences can download the songs.

Unfortunately, with all the pros for us consumers, the recording industry wants to stop this because they see this as a major thorn in their piggy banks! They realize that they cannot profit as much as they want and that artists are actually having control of their music.

Downloading music IS the wave of the future. It's coming and there's nothing anybody can do to stop it.

I actually think that legal downloads will be the future...but I love buying cd's...I mean, if I really like an artist it has such a different value holding the cd right in my hands, or reading the booklet etc...It's probably stupid the music is the same anyway but I like having physical cds...

Love the original disks, but in terms of illegal downloads, it is stifling the music industry and costing million s if not billions of £'s, therefore no new bands come about...

I don't know, the problem is if your computer gets a virus then you could loose everyhting that you have bought. If you do by songs on the net then I tink you should get them put onto physical media, just to be on the safe side.

Way forward? It's the here and now. Smiddy hasn't bought a CD in more than four years.

Hmmm I've got iTunes but I haven't really got to grips with it to be honest. I'd rather buy the physical disk.
