I used to live in the woods and learned quickly not to leave the cat's food outdoors. Purina cat chow draws raccoons like flies. Hope you're using a live trap, and be sure to wear leather gloves because they have a nasty bite when cornered.

I had the same problem! First I took a plate, and mixed peanut butter with poison. I put it in the attic. About 3 days later, I look in my attic. What do I see? A dead raccon!

i'd have a professional get rid of it. they can be vicious and often carry rabies. if they been pooping up there be extremely careful. most raccoons are infected with a potentially deadly roundworm parasite. they can deposit millions of eggs a day in there feces. the eggs are very resistant to chemicals and can only be destroyed by extreme heat so i'd have a professional clean that up.

When i was camping one time a Raccoon got in my food it stole Pringles, a loaf of bread and i also had a some snack packs of chips ahoy, nutter butters and oreos. He picked out the chips ahoy and oreos but left the nutter butters. SO i suggest pringles or chips ahoy.

first of all get a pair of thick gloves, and wear a thick jacket or something to cover your arms to protect yourself from bites. now get a small box of Morten's salt (other brands won't work). fill a salt shaker with salt. after you position yourself in a comfortable location in the attic, wait for the coon to close his/her eyes then sprinkle the salt on the coons tail. once you do this you should be able to scream real loud and scare the coon to death. p.s. may not work the first time!! have a nice day!!!

Can of tuna...punch a couple holes in the top, put in the live trap, and check it the next day. Best thing to do is kill the coon, because if you just let it go, it will come right back.

raccons love peanut butter. if you get a trap that only has one way in and no way out, you can put bread with peanut butter on it inside the trap, and they will go to it. they also like grapes. so try that, if that don't work call your local humane society for help.
