I think David Duchovny wanted out...X-Files was so cool...I have the "I want to belieive" poster from Mulder's office, hanging in my office at home.

A show is usually canceled because the writers cannot develop new and interesting material anymore. The actors might have gotten tired of doing the show, so they asked for it to end. Another possibility, which is not likely with the X-Files, is that the audience no longer watched it, costing the network a lot of money to air it.

X-Files sucked too! Same thing every time. Just like all these other gay shows on TV. Only shows that Rock are on Sunday night on Fox! ANIMATION DOMINATION hahaha

Because David Duchovny wanted out to pursue other things. Chris Carter (producer) decided to end it after that. It went 9 seasons and had a great following. I was one of them. I do own all 9 seasons on dvd. They can be purchased on amazon.com for less than 36.oo dollars.

X-files ran its course. The show started to get lame toward the end of it's run but we all watched anyway becuase you can't turn your back on Scully.

because it "jumped the shark" so to speak. after the movie it just got ridiculous and i stopped watching it. without mulder the show is worthless also.
