I had slip disc 5 years back. After the pain got over ( 10 days or so), I played a lot of golf with no problems. However, about 10 days back , while playing golf, the pain came back -BIG TIME. After 4-5 days of acute pain, I am now better, though some pain remains. I have been taking therapy and its helping. My question is that once I have recovered fully, say after a month or so, can I , or rather, should I play golf?

Like with all physical exercise, you should always consult a physician to determine if they would recommend you start playing.

I slipped a disc about 9 months ago, play golf, and have no problems. However, I exercise and stretch my back frequently to avoid having relapses.

As long as your doc passes you to play, continue with stretching to loosen your back. Also, if you run, avoid running on paved surfaces (streets and sidewalks), this will worsen the condition quickly.

So..
I found many interesting info about sciatica here: http://curesciatica.toptips.org

While looking for a miracle cure, it has to be understood that sciatica pain in itself is not a disease. It is actually a symptom or a group of symptoms with an underlying cause that needs to be targeted if some sort of permanent pain relief is what one is looking for. But one thing is absolutely clear. Incorporating a few exercises that have a beneficial effect on sciatica pain in daily regime is of great help and whether a patient is taking drugs or not, these exercises ensure that his muscles are kept in a toned condition that lessen any flare up of pain. Just a few stretching exercises can bring about a drastic change in the levels of pain and signify the importance of exercise in the management of sciatica pain.
Good Bye

Well, to get rid of the cause and prevent further disc slips, I would really recommend a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax.

The effects are really amazing - have experienced them myself.

Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It worth even a long journey! :-)

I wouldn't. A full swing puts a lot of torque on the spine, and that's the last thing you want on a disc that has a habit of slipping. Or, you could go to a chiropractor frequently. I've gotten a lot of relief from chiropractors.

I think regular visits with chiropractor and physical conditioning of your back and whole body would work well to prevent reoccurring in the first place. Do not forget to warm up your muscles in your back before your round- it could help you too. Enjoy your golf game in the smart way!

I play golf and did the same thing, I still play golf, you have to build your back muscles, this helps prevent slippage so easily, but no real magic cure you live with it, how bad do you want to play golf?
