I always thought that Filipinos (from Philippines) were Hispanic by appearance. Some said they are referred asian only because of location. What are your thoughts?
For those who answer, are you Filipino by blood? or not? are you half-breed? from where are you?

Geographically speaking, the Philippines are in Asia. It is an island off the coast, but none the less, it is Asia.
By apperance, yeah they do look Hispanice. Spain ruled the country until the 1898 when the US won the Spanish-American War. That is why the look Hispanic...They have the Spanish influence.
I am an American in Japan but my girlfriend is Filipino.

Filipinos are Asian. Their bloodlines mainly go back through the malay races that are also the ancestors of the Thai, Cambodian, Indonesian, and Vietnamese.
Since the Philippines was occupied by the Spanish for a couple hundred years, there was considerable inter-mixing of the races and considerable Spanish influence on their language and customs. That accounts for the "mestiza" or mixed eurpean-asian appearance of many Filipinos. There has also been considerable mixing with Chinese who settled in the Philippines for trade centuries ago. The further you get from Manila and central Luzon, the less mixing there has been and the more "pure" malay Filipinos you find. "half-breed" is neither a socially acceptable term nor a particularly appropriate one, since the considerable mixing has left influences of many races in the Philippines -- just like many other countries (the US included), where there are very few "pure-blood" of any race.

Of course they are Asian, as they live in Asia. Iraqis, Iranians, Indians, and Saudis are Asian as well. Andre Agassi is an Asian-American.

Yes, they are mainly of Malay, Indonesian, Chinese ethnicities but some Filipinos have Caucasian (mainly European) blood running in them.

yes they are asians from the south american which is why they share the peso currency with chile,columbia etc.
