What is it that makes some people want to get up and go each day? Is there some way to find out what could motivate a person?

I think you have to have a definite reason otherwise you procrastinate. One thing that can help is to make a list of things that will make you feel good if you complete the task. Then promise yourself that all you have to do is complete three things on the list each day. They can be small things like buy plants, pay bills or go to the dry cleaners. The deal is you have to complete three things each day no matter what. Good luck!

Usually by thinking of a very good result of the action or a very bad one. For example I gave up smoking after 30 years because of throat cancer. Have it cured now but it was very good motivation to quit. Before it was always the other person that was going to get it.

Most of us really get into what we are doing at the time, by being interested in whatever that is, by learning and the desire to know and find out about things. That's most of us ,others use chemistry and plants or the combination of the two, as Janis Joplin once said.

Motivation comes from setting goals....REALISTIC goals. If goal-setting is new to you, there is a way to baby-step it. Set a goal, then underneath write 5 different ways to acheive or work on this goal...5 REAL and DO-ABLE steps towards acheiving something. When you have a goal, and when you have steps put in place to help ACHEIVE that goal, then this goal becomes a realistic possibility and motivation is stirred. I recently took out a CD from my local library called "How to get what you really, really, really, really want" by Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer. You might also want to try out some of those motivational speeches, I find, for me, it helps.
