First of all, studying anything is good. Getting your MBA is great, but, A LOT of people have an MBA. and A LOT of people are currently gettting their MBA. You might find it hard to find a job once you graduate because so many other people will have the same degree as you. Maybe get a little more specific with your major. If you want to open your own business, find a school that has an entrepreneurship major, etc.

Where you would want to go depends on the program you are interested in and what location you are interested in. Do you want to move to another area or are you looking for a University within your area. As far as a type of MBA to pursue if you are interested in it an Engineering MBA would be a good one to look research further. Not many people have one and those that do make very good money and don't have trouble finding positions in their field.

I know my dad and my uncle both got their Masters (my dad an MBA, my uncle a Masters of Science in Economics) from the University of Wisconsin, located in Madison WI. And my dad always talks about how the emphasis on networking with alumni is really useful in the business world.

You have not mentioned where you are located. In India, some of the rep[uted institues to do yr MBA from are:- IITs at Powai, Ahmedabad, Kharagpur, Symbiosis at Pune, XLRI at Kolkata. Fees details can be taken from the respective institues website. I'm told at the IITs it costs around 5 to 7 lakhs However, if you are at Kolkata you can do it from Institue of Business Welfare and Business Management. Their costs are much lower, well within Rs.3-4 lakhs.

If you can't get into a top 20 school, (see businessweek or us news rankings) then don't bother. You'll waste 2 years and $40,000 (probably a lot more). If you go to a top school, you can make serious money afterwards--as in over a million dollars a year a decade out of school. Many people who go to podunk business schools end up making as much or less than they did before they went.
