I will only use McAfee, it doesn't take over your machine like Symantec (Norton) products do..If you have an older computer and you are worried about system resources you can use Trend Micro PC-Cillin which is also a good choice. I would really stay away from Norton, I had tried Norton Antivirus 2006 on my son's computer and it was far to restrictive and continually cause network issues...I uninstalled it, put on McAfee and never had a problem since....use the McAfee Virus Scan along with the Firewall for awesome protection...

Try the AVG antivirus, it is the best for my, y use it and never fail,
the best thing is that it`s totally free for home users and can be integrated to a Keryo Firewall (more protection).

I use AVG Free. I have been using it for about 2 years, and I feel that it works better than Norton or McAffee. I have previously used both of those, and had a lot of problems with them. AVG updates automatically, scans e-mails both ways, and catched viruses instantly. And for free, who can beat it?

Nod32 has the best record.
In terms of detection record and minimal demands
on your PC, it wins.
You can get a 30 free trial here:
http://www.eset.com/download/index.php
If you don't want to spend money, get a year without charge
of eTrust. It's not far behind. (And much better than the free
programs.)

Bitdefender!!! Both Norton and McAfee suck. Bitdefender has a free online virus scanner, and it catches all viruses and trojans. I've been using it.

I agree COMPLETELY with marmanto!
AVG free & sunbelt firewall (especially if you aren't running xpsp2)
sunbelt will keep trying to get you to pay for it, but it won't stop working if you don't.
This is what I advise all my friends, family & customers, & this is the setup I have on my own machines.
hope this helps
