Why hasn't anyone thought of bringing Green Lantern to the big screen?

They're probably getting to it. At the rate things are going they'll reach him eventually (right after ghost rider, wonder woman, superman, batman, catwoman, flash and so on).

There was talk a long time ago about making a Green Lantern movie. However, there have been so many different variations of the character that it is difficult to settle on one for the film. I found this on Yahoo Movies.

"(6/9/03) As of this writing, it is unclear which version of Green Lantern will be adapted, but it's likely to be one of the characters whose ring has its origins in the Green Lantern Corps, an interplanetary police force organized by a race of aliens from the planet Oa called the Guardians. Using his ring, Green Lantern can shape and produce green energy of fantastic power that can be used to create solid objects, shoot energy bolts, and give Green Lantern the power of flight (including intergalactic travel)."

obviously 2003 was a while ago so the project obviously hit a wall. Hope this helps.

There has been some talk a little more recently than 2003 but nothing has come of it. I think Nicholas Brendan (Xander from Buffy) would make a good Kyle Raynor if they chose to do him. Check superherohype.com for the latest on this movie and all the other comic movies in various stages of production. They update it everyday. Also Wizard magazine (a comic magazine) talks about comics movies but that is a monthly publication. Superherohype is better for up to the minute info.

Actually I just checked superherohype.com and the most recent thing about a GL movie was that Jack Black may star in it but that was from August 2004. Like I said they update it everyday so keep checking it. You never know what a new development may occur.

One there are too many Green Lanturns. Two there would be too much CGI for the ring. It would look very bad.
