I keep my promises. Unfortunately, I know some people who don't. This is the worst when they promise children something. I've seen it. The child waiting anxiously for something which was 'promised' only to be let down when there is no follow through. You see the look of 'hope' diminish in the poor child's eyes. Having witnessed this one too many times, I always make it a point to keep a promise. I won't promise the moon and stars if I can't make it happen. This, I promise.

I try very hard to keep my promises but I'm human. I do make a point to let the person know that I will not be able to accomplish my promise and give them a truthful explanation. Keeping a promise, or at the very least making folks aware I can't do something is a sticking point with me. I know things come up and people get busy with their lives, but I disliked it as a child and I dislike as an adult when people just say things and have no plan to really follow through. And making a person aware that you can not do something at least lets them know you thought about it and would have made the effort.

I also try to only promise that which I know I can deliver, and then hold fast to that promise. I have a deep loathing for people pleasing pusses that will say anything and don't follow through. Can they not understand that the pleasing they cause on the front end is not worth the disapointment on the back end?

I know its already been said, but my number one rule, especially after my children came along, is "do not make a promise you can't keep". So most of the time, if the words "I promise" come out of my mouth, the promised thing is about five minutes from happening,

I don't make promises that will be difficult to keep. However, if I run into a problem with keeping a promise, I will break it and explain why I did.

I'm very good at keeping promises, especially when I don't forget about them or put them off until later. Other than that, I tend to be a person of my word and obey strict guidelines... that were... something or another... What was the question?

I keep my promises unless I space them out, but I never make a promise I don't intend to keep.

Yes, the only thing in this world that is truly yours is your word. If you break a promise after giving your word its not worth anything.

No. I keep my word. No matter how much it hurts. If I have nothing else in this life, at least I have the reputation of being an honest and true person.
