You should feed it mainly pellets, since it has all the vitamins and minerals, while fish, shrimp and meat don't. It may take a while before a terrapin will accept pellets. Be patient and don't give in. It will take pellets. It can go months without eating, so don't worry, you won't starve it.

As for fish, shrimp and pieces of meat, it is OK to feed once every two weeks as a treat, and it should not be the main diet.

P.S. Don't cut the nails. The nails are part of their chatracteristics... male will have longer nails than females. It's normal. Check out these pics:

I have a terrapin but i don't feed it raw fish, you should feed it little shrimps that you can get in cans and why would you want to cut its claws. You'll just cause it pain, but if you want you could bring it to vet.

'Raw' as is in 'dead and uncooked' fish could be full of germs. If the fish was frozen safely, and thawed properly, it is OK.

Live fish is better, though.

Leave the claws of the aquatic species alone- the long elegant foreclaws are a sign of a male and they are used in mating.
