And what will they take from the game?

Have the aussies arrived as a real contender for the world game?

I'm an aussie rules follower, but am a recent convert to the world game.

The aussies will do everything against Brazil and then even more

my personal favorite is the Czech republic I hope they go all the way. After all, they did have a poet a head of state.

Go THE CZECH'S!

I believe, and i may be a little optomistic, that Australia will make the 2nd round (maybe with a draw against Croatia). Don't get me wrong, Croatia is very good, but their team isn't as good as previous world cup campaigns.

In the 2nd round, they will play Italy (Czech Republic will top group E) and they will lose for the simple fact that Italy, while not performing well in the past few tournaments by their standards, will have a technical and tactics supremecy. I think Totti, Italy's play-maker, will destroy Australia.

The reason why Australia will be a better team then they were before is:
1. The Australian Governing Body, Football Australia, is much more professional and well organised then before.
2. They are now going to be part of the Asian qualifying groups, which is, in my opinion, easier to get out of the their present system, meaning regular competition and regular World Cup's, which means constant improvement.

Hope this answer helps and wasn't too long-winded.

alright, look at the odds here. the aussies just came into the world cup after like... forever of not playing. they may have beaten Japan, but Japan has a lot of short people for one, and for another, they are much more into the baseball than the soccer. when you're not in the world cup that long you have no game. England will slaughter them, Brazil will slaughter them, and Germany will slaughter them. i'm sure a few other teams will beat them, but come on.
Beckam? aussies will never beat him
Brazil's national sport is soccer- good luck beating them
germany- 4 to 2 against Costa Rica

aussies have NOTHING!!

Brazil will, just think of it this way, everytime Australia made a mistake ,Japan ended up in the 18 yard area but did not score ,do you think Brazil will do same -i think not!

nb. kizz. if australia go to the second round they will play the winners of group e ,and right now it seems like its going to be the czechs

Brasil, they will learn football from the thousand petaled lotus feet of the gurus, Ronaldo and Ronaldhino. If they are at the world cup then they must be a contender for a place in the last 32.

The fact that the Aussie team has to travel so much and rarely plays together, they are doing great! The more time together they get the stronger they get and anything is possible.......take each game as it comes and....watch out little brazil!
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE, OY, OY, OY!!

England or Brazil hopefully by a 7-0 thrashing. Its bad enough that you are good at cricket & rugby but now you want to dominate International Football.

Brazil.
I think it's still too early to tell if the Aussies are a real contender cos' they haven't meet the real strong teams yet.

You'll never kill the AUSSIE fairytale. The teams in their group are hard, but they will give them a run for their money.
