Haha. I don't know .. but Thank you for your help. Lol.

Check your connections and make sure they are connected correctly.

How long did you have your speakers for?
Its possible that you might need to get new speakers. All hardware has a life limit. Some just last longer than others.

I can help you if you lost sound or if your sound card is not working correctly, but static speakers is a hardware problem.

Edit: Hmm maybe its conflicting with another hardware. Do you have any webcams or mics attached to your computer? Try pulling the jack out and plug it in again. Remove any magnetic devices that might be screwing with your computer. TAke out any additional hardware and see if that helps, like a webcam or mic, etc.

Is it both speakers? If its just one, maybe you can just mute one of them and just use the other one.

There are a number of things you can try -

Computer CD players are generally less tolerant of scratched CD's than regular CD players. Make sure your CD is clean and not scratched.

Get all your required Windows updates.
Get the latest Windows Media Player.

If you are ripping the CD at the same time as playing it then it will probably skip. Are you running a lot of other programs besides Media Player? Close them first.

Make sure you can see the Menu Bar in Windows Media Player (WMP) - where it says "File View Play Tools Help". If you don't see this then right-click on the top of the WMP. If you're in "Skin Mode" click "Switch to Full Mode". From "Full Mode" right-click on the top and click "Show Menu Bar".

Ok, now to try some solutions.
From the menu choose "Tools | Options ..."
Click the "Player" tab and check "Download Codecs Automatically".

Click the "Devices" tab and choose the CD (or DVD) device.
Click Properties and change the "Use error correction" check box. (If it's checked then un-check it, if it's un-checked then check it.) Click OK and OK and try your CD again.

If this doesn't fix it go back and put the "Use error correction" back to what it was before. Then change the "Digital / Analog" option on the same properties dialog. Click OK and OK and try your CD.

If this doesn't work either then go back and put "Digital / Analog" back to what it was before.

Now select the "Speakers" in the "Devices" tab. Click "Properties" and select the "Default device".
If it is checked then un-check the "Use 24-bit audio" check box.
Click OK and OK and try your CD again.

If none of these work then try this.
Go back to the "Devices" tab then the "Speakers" properties.
Click the "Advanced" button.
Now in the "Speaker Settings" click the "Advanced" button. Select the speakers that match your setup.
Click the "Performance" tab. Move the "Hardware acceleration" slider to "None". Click OK (four times) and try your CD again.
If it works now, then go back to the "Hardware acceleration" slider and keep trying at a higher setting.

Good luck.
