Not really, but the thing is that you can easily get familiar to this softwares, both are really friendly to use, and you need very few guidance...

I am also trying to learn Java. I would recommend that before you buy a book for flash or Java, check out the reviews, at amazon.com, on the book from the people who bought it.

To get a really good reference for java, get JAVA in a NUTSHELL, and the Example book. I have them and it is really helping me through my comp. sci. major.
