What would you think of a mobile beauty business.
That does hair, nails, make-up, everythign you can think of that is in a beauty salon that you can call to your home?
I am hoping to do this when i leave college, i just wondered if any of you think that would be a good idea, would you use it?

I think that it would be very beneficial to the elderly as well as people preparing for special events such as weddings, parties, etc. I think it's a very good idea, i think that depending on your location on your marketing strategies that it will be pretty successful. Good luck!

Excellent idea. Home services are going great at the moment. people are struggling to get plumbers, electricians, gardeners and so on. People don't have the time to do many things for themselves. Even people going around doing simple stuff, like doing peoples ironing or mowing lawns are doing really well. But do a business plan. You'll need specialist equipment and supplies. Manicures are great, but people will also want nail varnish in a variety of colours, that special stuff applied to strengthen their nails and you may need to enhance your skills and learn how to do hair extensions or whatever people want. The more knowledge and skills you have the better. Use your computer literacy to help too. Do a business plan on your word processor, keep a client list on a database, keep computerised accounts. Although, some stuff like your diary may have to be done the old fashioned way - unless you have a laptop you can carry around with you. Do try to be as professional as possible. A web site to advertise your business would be a great idea too. You have a lot of research to do before you start and the Internet will help with that. If you want to practice doing a website there is a freeware program Newview (NVU) you can download to practice with and you can get "free" web space from Tripod. That will help you practice doing a website - and doing a logo for your business. Incidentally, you can advertise the products you use on your website as an additional source of income and of course sell cosmetics and a range of goods to your clients. See a business advisor before you do anything else. Talk to your bank and tell them what you're planning. Check out any government agencies that may help. In the UK the Prince's Trust would help you get started. Good luck. Now give me top answer for all this typing!

I did this for a few years after I left college, it was fine but I did not make a huge amount of money as there is a lot of competition from other therapists/salons etc. It all depends on the area though, I made enough to get by and it can be very successful if you are based in the right area.

I think it could be a great idea, but i think you need to do your research on it, i am a man and i don't know much about hair and nails, however i do know about business, and i would think that most women who get their hair and nails done always go to the same place, i think if you can make your mobile service available to people that normally can't afford it, i think you might be on to something, a good rule of thumb is if you can make enough to cover your products, personal ( if any ), and taxes and still keep 30 percent of the amount of business you do, then you are doing alright

I think it's a pretty cool idea, but the overhead would be outrageous! I think it would end up being really expensive, plus people would probably call you to their house to do nails, but what kind of sink would you have to lug from house to house so you could wash hair? Plus I like to go to the salon and see all the people and products and be out of the house! But overall I think it would be awesome for large parties and people with disposable income.

i would use the service, but only if i knew about it. the problem with these mobiel beauty services, is that alot of them dont advertise or promote there business and they only get heard of by word of mouth. i think its a good idea for people who prehaps havent got alot of time on there hands to go to a salon and with your service, they could just relax in the comfort of there own home..... not a bad idea i say.

I would use a service like that!
I never have time to go sit in the salon. Evenings and weekends would be great!
Good luck.

Great idea, go for it! Some people find it hard to find time to get to the salon and others would appreciate the privacy and undivided attention.

This is a good idea but the difficulty is building up a client base which is usually done by working locally getting to know people and basically poaching your clients/customers.
