I am UK based and want to create a fairly straightforward website to showcase my artwork. I don't need to do anything very elaborate, would love to have my own email with the website address and don't want to spend too much - any suggestions

Use this company:

I currently use it because it's cheap and reliable. The free package has 100mb per month so that would be enough if you're not expecting too much traffic. If your art is very much high resolution with many visitors then you can upgrade at anytime. The domain name registration is a tiny bit more expensive than other companies but overall it's a good deal.

If you are an advanced user and can create a webpage yourself and have WIN XP PRO as your OS you can design a webpage and host it too using IIS. If not look for third party solutions. If you have a credit card HOMESTEAD is also a good solution. Follow this URL to get more details.

Shop around you should be able to do that domain name and hosting 35 to 50 american dollars" I don't know what that adds up to in UK" but it's not that much..A seach for cheap hosts should find plenty.

Try Google Page Creator, it is very user friendly and you get a lot of themes to choose from. And, it's free.

I use "GoDaddy" - it is inexpensive and easy to use and the technical help is really good. The only complaint is that there is no toll-free number for help. Other wise - it's really great.
