I've often heard that take off can be painful on a baby's ears because of the cabin pressurization, so make sure he has a bottle or a pacifier he can suck on to equalize his ears & keep them from "popping". To be honest with you, I'd give him a dose of baby tylenol drops before take off so he won't feel so bad or get upset. I always gave my children a dose of drops before their shot visits at the pediatrician to help them, rather than wait until after the shots. That way they were calmer & the side effects were lessened. Good luck - I know nobody likes to be stuck on a plane with a crying baby. I hope ya'll do just fine!

The most important thing is EarPlanes. They sell for about $5 at many stores or online and will prevent the baby's ears from popping. (You can also get those in adult sizes for you.) You are permitted to use your car seat if you want to lug it provided it's a full car seat and not a booster seat.

Other than that just make sure you have more than enough supplies, food, drink, diapers, etc on hand. Even if it is a short flight, you never know if you are going to get stuck sitting in the plane on the tarmac while it takes them 5 hours to shoo a baby goose from the runway.

When I took my daughter on her first plane ride, I made sure I had a couple of full bottles (for her do drink to relieve pressure in her ears). My daughter fell asleep during take off though, so I didn't need them. I hope this helps, though.

Buy your baby a seat and strap him in a car-seat! This is the safest and most comfortable way for your baby to travel. The car seat is familar and comfortable, and you will not get tired and uncomfortable yourself. Bring familiar toys, teethers are very helpful. Have he/she drink a bottle while the plane in taking off and climbing and ESPECIALLY when the plane is descending for a landing will help keep your baby's ears from popping to much.

That is a tough one. Do you have a portable DVD player? If so, baby Einstein. Snacks, not with sugar though.
