I would say, the selfishness and apathy that keep many human beings from actually getting up from their couches and doing something everyday to make a difference in this world. Politicians in every country and their stupid personal agendas are the worse of the lot because they can do the most damage quickly. "Money makes the world go round" is how they live.
Fortunately, there are still plenty of people who believe that love can make a difference and actually care enough to work hard in whatever capacity, whether in their neighborhoods or on a larger scale, to do something good for others.
I do what I can right now, every day, and so can all of us here.

Global warming is a serious problem along with these renegade countries such as Iran, and North Korea who have these misfit leaders. I would also say Mother Earth is becoming overpopulated. I believe wars of the future will be fought over fresh water.
All in all its a messed up world and getting messier.
Mankind needs to try to solve these problems and start praying.
We are in deep s - - -

The biggest current threat for the future of the planet is ignorance.
Ignorance manifests itself across all spectrums of cultures and societies and its ramifications are profound. One can make a case that ignorance has contributed to:
a decline in courtesy, ethics and values
overpopulation
short-sighted policy making
Think of ignorance as a seed. The three-aforementioned outgrowths of that seed can be viewed as a wildly growing vine that, if not trimmed and controlled will envelope and choke the entire garden (i.e. our planet).
Ignorance can be overcome, but it takes dedication and patience (LOTS of patience).

Global warming....you can see the new Al Gore documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" for the facts or read books like Cradle to Cradle. This is not a new trend but popular culture is shoving it into people's faces because change will not come unless humans work together.

Stupidity like Yahoo Answers, who cares, nothing I can do. You either and if you think one person can make a difference, waste your time trying than you can create an imaginary vision of yourself and what you did to save the planet.
Or
You could help someone who needs a ride to the hospital or needs a meal or needs a friend, **** the planet!

GLOBAL WARMING......and Geroge Bush's lack of action....Just look at any footage of the polar ice caps melting away. Read time magazine or see Al gore's new movie......People would have you believe its terriorism, but i think our environment is more of a threat....Look at all the natural disasters happening all over lately. That has to prove something. Remember the planet is doing what it has to do to survive and if that means shaking off its problems (i.e. humans) then it will......It has done so in the past.

Global warming is the biggest threat... but that is caused by the growing population, so it is a tie between those two.

One word-pride
Without so much of it we probably could resolve our differences and get down to the real problems that afflict mankind.
Without pride, those people driving big gas guzzling SUV's that don't need them wouldn't care to drive a regular vehicle that is more environment friendly. There would not be wars to impose beliefs/morals on people who live differently. I could go on and on, the rudimentary problem with mankind is pride, all of our problems are fabrications of that pride.
