Is it me or most of the answerer's are immature & ignorant on here? America is safer - there has not been an attack on any american soil throughout the world (embassies for the dummies). The economy is booming. Stock Markets are on the verge of setting records. Tax cuts have helped individuals, families, and small buisnesses. The employment rate is the lowest it has ever been. Al queda - its leaders and supporters are being destroyed. Bush has put a good senoir prescription plan in place for those who choose to use it. Bush and Kennedy pushed the no child left behind policy through congress. These are only accomplishments in America - Iraq has numerous success stories that have not been published.

First of all, he's done nothing to give us a "better america" (sic). If anything, everything he stands for is un-American! For one thing, he wasn't even democratically elected in 2000. The Oval Office was handed to him on a silver platter by his dad's friends on the Supreme Court bench. He has jeopardized the checks and balances system of the government by expanding executive power. We now have domestic spying. He has taken the surplus that was left by Clinton and given us a record deficit. He and his religious fanatic buddies have tried to tear down the separation of church and state that is clearly stated in the Constitution by starting "faith-based initiatives". Worst of all, he started a war that was based on a lie. He claimed that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Well, we've been there for 3 years now, and the WMDs STILL haven't been found. He claims that the war in Iraq is a part of the "War on Terror". In case you've forgotten, it was Osama bin Laden (not Saddam Hussein) who was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. By the way, where the hell is Osama bin Laden? It's been nearly 5 years since the 9/11 attacks and he STILL hasn't been found! Come on! We've got the best military in the world! Don't you think that if Bush really cared about protecting the U.S. from future attacks and getting justice for the 3,000 people who died on 9/11, bin Laden would have been caught by now? It's been said that within 5 hours after the 9/11 attacks, Rumsfeld ordered those under him to find as much evidence as possible linking Saddam Hussein to the attacks. It's obvious that Bush & Co. were hellbent on going to Iraq from the beginning, and they saw the 9/11 attacks as their golden opportunity. Iraq has one of the largest oil reserves in the world, so the reason why we're over there is obvious.

Also, Bush has done anything but give "Iraq a better Iraq". No one's denying that Saddam Hussein was a monster. However, since the war started, Iraq has become a battle ground for extremist groups that want to take over. People are being abducted from the streets and then murdered. And not only that, but since the beginning of the war, many of the people who had electricity before are now without it. Also, Haditha is another prime example of how we aren't giving "Iraq a better Iraq".

Hey, I don't see any terrorists impertinently hijacking planes into tall buildings / landmarks in the US of late. Does that count for something?

Hell, if not, then let someone else run the country & ignore the terrorists. Then let's see how many buildings get burn down then or worse. Come on, give credit where it's due.

As for Iraq, they're no longer under Saddam's rule. How they make it to out to be - for better or for worse - depends on them.

It's not a perfect world. There is a cost to everything. I'm not saying that Bush's made all correct decisions. He is trying at least. Remember, it could be worse (nuclear attack on home soil, germ warfare, more plane hijacks, etc.) but folks don't see it cos they're sitting at home safe and sound and criticising the folks making it safe for them to be there doing just that.

The ends do not justify the means.

Wanting a better America is fine. Attempting to accomplish that by willfully violating federal law, blatantly ignoring the Constitution, lying to constituents, violating oath of office -- those are not valid means.

Wanting a better Iraq (or any other country) is fine. Using military force to invade and kick out the existing government, just because you don't like that government, is a terrorist act.

Bush apparently thinks a better America is one where the deficient is so huge it can't be paid off by our great-great grandchildren, and foreign countries own all of our debt. It's one where illegal searches and wiretaps are routine, and basic freedoms have been usurped. It's one where he and his buddies in the oil and defense businesses are rich, and the rest of the country is struggling to survive. And one where America is hated by the rest of the world, and is constantly at war with somebody.

Not the kind of better America I'd like to have...

Maybe the answer to your question can be found if you ask yourself what does a better America or Iraq mean to you.

In the words spoken by Ronald Reagan "Are you better off today than you were yesterday?" fit your way of thinking, and you are better off, then don't worry, be happy. Just remember that we live in a democracy and people should be able to express their feelings and views just the way you do yours. Our forefathers expected us citizens to argue and still be able to live in a free society without government interference generally speaking.

People read the words of a Democratic Senator! All moslems want us infidels dead. we are in a pre-emptive strike mode. Stop them there or here at home, it is your choice.

This is TRUE per Snopes.com

WHAT SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, state the following:

a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked us; Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost .
an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...
an average of 18,334 per year.

d John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.

e Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North
Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining
about how long the war is taking.
BUT
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
to realize the facts
But Wait there's more!

Some people still don't understand why military personnel
do what they do for a living. This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
services do what they do for a living

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what
some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my
checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was
not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day...
to a veteran's hospital and look those men ..
with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA
and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Or phans
of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them
that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this nation,
and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"
For those who don't remember
During WWII, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney
representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.
The single most important thing about the LIBERALS is that they can't stand the TRUTH!
You can't shout me down with your Saul Alinsky tactics, ala Hillary Clinton who worked for him!!!!!
