Harmful. It is the reason that chivalry is almost dead. Women are trying to be just like men, including the worst part of manhood. The only thing worse than a man with little-man-syndrome is a woman with little-man-syndrome! The woman gets a little taste of power and she becomes a tyrant (worst managers ever!! All the best managers I've worked for have been men). Women are not built physically like men nor emotionally or intellectually like men. Men are stronger, but women tend to be wiser (necessary to outsmart children). Now that women are trying to be men, they are losing their wisdom, the family is breaking down, discipline of children is out the door, everyone has to make sure they are "politcally correct" and it is harder for men and single women to find a job because all of these wives/mothers need to have a "career" to feel fulfilled! What a mess these women's libbers have made!!

moot. The movement disappeared with the 70s. And, it's unfortunate because we weren't done yet, and women are not equal in this society, and men do still look at us as property, as do most marital laws. In Switzerland, they call feminism the 'gender-role debate'. They've come further in gender equality than any other country and I think calling it a gender-role debate invites men into it, whereas the term feminism feels exclusive to women. So, men think it's man-hating. I guess I wouldn't have a problem with getting paid less than a man for the same work, but I don't get charged less for my goods and services, so it does take away a woman's opportunity. You let an immigrant have a job in this country, and everyone wants to complain that they will be making less, have less jobs, less opportunities. But women have always known what that feels like, and I don't see any debate over that anymore. Clinton was the last person I remember hearing from about the wage gap. And it was $.78 on the dollar then. What a shame.

Definitely harmful... In American society we seem to jump from one extreme to the other without finding a balance. The end result can be a long term mistake that if uncorrected may lead to the downfall of man...

If you look at the problems facing society today they seem to correlate with the increase in Divorce, parents working too much (absence of parents at home), etc. I am not saying that Women's Lib is the root cause, however I do believe it played a crucial role in hurting the nuclear family. As single parenthood abounds, confusion about gender, roles and guidance has resulted in a lost society of children, becoming a lost society of adults. Increased drug use, promiscuity, and unhealthy dependencies has replaced stability, growth, and interdependence. The end result could be devastating to say the least.

Personally I agree with some of the advancements as it gave women a greater voice, however in many instance it has been abused. Call me old-fashioned, a male chauvanist, etc. but I still would like to see the role of a women as a source of moral, physical and intelligent support for men. Not that I am any better, but to bring that balance to me... but what can I bring to a woman? Love, encouragement, and support to make her the best she can be as well. BALANCE

This is a BS answer but because the movement is so new to our society it cannot yet be truly judged. History will judge. For now however it has been good for men of the generation past to see that women have some very real struggles.

i dont think its been that helpful nor has it been bad. The one thing it did do is to make more women not so dependant on men which is great in my opinion. But the down side of it now is that guys like the independant woman and it has freed him ou to do other things. Honey do list just got shorter(LOL)

In the beginning, when their goal was to secure women's rights to vote, ending secual harassment, equal pay, etc., their purpose was very admirable and necessary.

Now they have turned into little more than a pro-abortion advocacy group. Their activism has done little more than to ruin their credibility and therefore damage their effectiveness when trying to make progress in legitimate areas.

I believe it's been helpful. Now women can experience life to it's fullest. They now have their god given right of free choice to choose as they wish, without the permission of a male. The human experience is limitless, and it's a good thing for everyone to have equal right to enjoy all of it's adventures =)

As with most things in Life, it has, of course, been both simultaneously
.
For all those who desire women to have the choice of equality in civil rights, social/work opportunities and lifestyle choices it has obviously been far, far more helpful than harmful.
And all for those who desire to prevent women from having the choice of equality in civil rights, social/work opportunities and lifestyle choices it has obviously been far, far more harmful than helpful.

Helpful, as it has allowed us men to change views of the true value of a woman in society.

Women are not second class citizens, whose only function is to operate as a brood mare for the state.
