Wit is clever, humour is funny. Wit can sometimes be scathing, and hurtful -- at other times, it can be a flick of light illuminating an especially silly condition. Many comedic remarks about politicians are witty. Humour is downright funny, and can generate guffaws and belly laughs. It is more broadly understood, too. Wit is often something that requires an 'in' component to completely understand.

Humor is the ability to induce laughter. Also, the ability to grasp what is funny or amusing, or enjoy what is just plain silly.
Wit is a sharpness of mind...a quickness of perception and a cleverness in expressing ironies, incongruities, absurdities, etc.
A wit is always humorous...but a clown or buffoon doesn't have to be witty to be funny.

Wit is having humor but with an intellectual side. Humor itself, is a broad spectrum to actions besides words, which can either be funny or make you look like a fool.
