The correct use of grammar has become a casualty of the whole "self-esteem" movement in our society — placing more emphasis on people feeling positive about themselves than doing so within the confines of better educational standards. It has created a "pulling down" of those ahead of the knowledge curve to the level of those who want like themselves as they currently are — stagnant and ill-informed in the ability to communicate effectively.
