Pain is the signal for you not to move the affetced part. There is a hormone called endorphin which is a bodies own pain killer. When you are active or awake this hormone level in the blood is high and you feel less pain, but when you become tired or go to sleep the hormone level goes down and you feel more pain. And the other cause is the production of toxins, in the night body tissues start to regenerate to heel the wound or to replace the damaged tissue, in this process cells uses a lot of energy and produces toxins as by products including substance P which is a potent pain mediator. To have a nice sleep, sleep in cold enviorment. Never try hot water packs ain affetced parts ehen you go to bed.

I agree with some of the answers mentioned here. Pain becomes more intense at night because we are more aware of it. During the day, there are a lot of distractions to keep you from noticing how painful things can be. But when it's time to wind down, we become less preoccupied with other things. In that way, the sensation of pain intensifies.

Ever wondered why we feel hungrier or have the urge to go to the toilet more during the night? :)

Depends specifcally on the type of pain your talking about, but in most cases, your body is like a well-oiled machine. If there something wrong with your back or stiffness in the joints, then your going to get worse after a full day's worth of work.

i agree with icemanind. also, i think people might feel pain more at night because they aren't being distracted by anything and the pain is the only thing to focus on.

What kind of pain? Might be where or how you are sleeping. Also, your body's chemistry changes in the PM, so that effects a lot of it also.

i wouldn´t say that it hurts more you just realize it more because you´re calm...body regenerates at night so it shouldn´t hurt more.
