An animal eating another animal is not done out of hatred. Humans are the only ones that kill EACH OTHER out of hatred: thats the kind of peace that I want and I beleive is attainable.

Ah yes, many and i'm one. I take a leaf from the book of Morrie Schwartz (Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom). If i dont agree with the conventions of society i live by my own conventions and my friends (even if its a minority of one the truth is still the truth). The status quo in this country was fairly passive regarding America's wars til a group of students (i was among them) demonstrated at Shannon Airport in Ireland at the use by American military craft of our country for war waging. The status quo was passive, the government was appeasing, the intellectuals were seething with Anti-Bush. So, we marched and some were arrested, some were beaten. But we marched and now the country is alight with opinions on America and "ITS" wars. Though the vast majority of the staus quo now want Shannon banned to American flyovers the Fianna Fail Government continues to be appeasing to President Bush's cabinet. But at least the country woke up a little. Its a start.

Oh, gosh yes. But how do we go about doing it? We are supposed to be so enlightened - and according to our own egos, better than the animals. Yet we follow the same violent patterns of dog-eat-dog. And some of us (differing from the animals) call it God's work. People who live by bigotry and hatred become offensive when it is pointed out to them that there is another side to the story. How to successfully effect a change in the human psyche???????That's a big one.

quite a few of us peace mongers want to change the status quo. Vote Democrat in November. I like the Libertarian party, but it has no chance of making a change for now. Perhaps someday.
