2) FFIX
3) FFX
4) FFVIII
5) FFXIII (Because its not out yet)

Upon playing all Final Fantasy games I have to go with

FF VII

It was just groundbreaking and really set a new standard for RPG's.

I remember playing that game until the clock stopped tracking game time...

Other than that you're top 5 (with the exception of 5 would be FFII)...

I know a lot of people like to say FFVII, but in my opinion (which also matches that of a lot of people I respect), by far the best FF game, nay, the best RPG of all time is Final Fntasy VI (released as Final Fantasy III in the US). It has an amazing storyline, awesome graphics (probably the best-looking SNES game of all time), a vast world which completely and utterly shifts during the game, engaging gameplay, and great replay value. It also was very innovative, defining a lot of things which are now "standard" for the RPG genre. FFVII's main claim to fame was simply being 3D - this was all the innovation it needed, and so people loved it because it was new. But in other areas it simply wasn't as good as FFVI. Nor was any other Final Fantasy or RPG, before or since.

Factoid: FFVI was so good that even though Square released an english version for the US, online ROM-hackers still spent years re-translating the original Japanese version so that english-speaking fans (through the use of an emulator) could enjoy the original names/text with no modifications.

Oh, I forgot another important aspect to FFVI - it has some of the best music of any RPG as well.

Well, as I have not played any Final Fantasy games, I cannot answer this question. But, I do have another idea for you:

put down the remote, turn off the TV and go outside. Too many people sit around in front of a TV and waste away their lives with nonsense.

This is a tough question. VI is an amazing game that no one gives as much credit to as it's a SNES game. I played the re-release on PSX and thought it was amazing. VII is fabulous, the story is wonderful. VIII is also amazing but not quite as good as VII. IX is great but not as good as the previous two.

For me FFX is he best. The story is mind blowing, the game is phenomenal, the graphics and soundtrack are second to none and the end made me cry!! So sad it was!! So for me it's...

1) FFX
2) FFVII
3) FFVIII
4) FFX-2 (loved this one too!!)
5) FFIX

Final Fantasy VII by far. It had the story line, the characters and the coolest bad guy ever.

FFVII
I got so engrossed by the storyline that when Aerith died I got really depressed and the music and sound effects were also just perfect, in the end I must've spent 600+ hours playing it, I wish they could remake it like so many great Hollywood movies

FFVIII is my favorite. It was less a game to me and more of an emotional experience. I'll never forget it.

FFVII was fantastic and had so much replayability.

FFII (USA SNES) Was what got me hooked on the series!!
