Berlin is unlike other European cities in that it is like two cities (or more) meshed together. This is because of the reunification of Germany and Berlin, which makes Berlin a very intresting, yet strange place. It is worth visiting, but as a word of warning, it does not have much of the 'sparkle' of other German cities such as Munich or Dresden. However, Spandau, a section of Berlin, is similiar to streets in Dresden and Munich. Since you can fly between Munich and Berlin for 45 euros using easyjet (book early) i would fly into Munich, fly to Berlin, tour Berlin, then fly to munich to tour. I have done this twice and its an amazing trip.

With over 152 museums and galleries, so much history packed in this incredible city, such a diversity of cultures and people, Berlin is undoubtedly one of the most interesting destinations to go for a weekend, or even better a few weeks. No matter how long you stay in this city, you will never get bored. There's a great U-Bahn (metro/train) that will take you anywhere. Whether you opt for markets, shops, walking tours around the city, or museums, you will be enchanted. If you are looking for accomodation I would strongly suggest you the Bax Pax Hostel in Kreuzberg where I stayed for over 3 weeks and met great people from all over the world. Enjoy Berlin, I definitely would again!

I spent a week there last August. It's a very historical and absolutely fascinating city. If you can take a tour, I highly recommend Brewer's Berlin tours. This guy knows everything about Berlin, and he teaches his guides well. There's so much to see that if you go for a weekend, you can't possibly come near taking it all in, but you could still see a lot in two days. I think everyone should see the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, if nothing else.

Berlin offers an contemporary mixture of new and basic architecture, powerful amusement, shopping, and a wide variety of sports and ethnic institutions and if you intend to see it then that hotelbye is the area to start. Some of the things you will see listed below are: the Old Museum, the National Gallery, the Bode Museum, Old National Gallery or, the symbol of Germany, the Berlin Wall. That wall started his life in 1961 when East Germany made down the eastern the main city to base the flood of refugees from east to west. By the full time it absolutely was split down in 1989, the 4 meter large wall and 155 kilometres long, dissected 55 roads, and possessed 293 observation towers and 57 bunkers. Nowadays, only small stretches of the graffiti-covered travesty stay, including a 1.4-kilometer stretch preserved included in the Berlin Wall Memorial, a chilling note of the animosity that when separated Europe.

Munich is a huge city with: cafe, nightlife and accommodation entries, with hotelbye , you can have a look. Munich could be the capital city of Bavaria and the third-most populous city in Germany. For ages the seat of the Dukes, Electors, and Leaders of Bavaria, the Munich Residenz is without question among Europe's many magnificent palaces. Presented around eight large courts, the great resident complex comprises three main parts: the Königsbau, fronting into Max-Joseph-Platz; the Alte Residenz, facing Residenzstrasse; and the Festsaalbau (Banqueting Hall) overlooking the Hofgarten. The first section with this big complicated to be created was the wonderful Antiquarium, built-in 1579 and now area of the exemplary Residenz Museum. Munich is just a city with lots of history, make sure you examine it whole.

Definitely worth going although a weekend seems to be rather short as there are loads of excellent museums there! A visit to Checkpoint Charlie and the other site where the SS Headoffice used to be are educational and the theatres, ballets, operas... are also a must.

I would also recommend a night stroll in the around the Brandenburg gates as the place looks lovely with the lights and the FIFA World Cup atmosphere.

Berlin is one of my favourite cities in Europe. Definitely a must see, whether you are a museum goer or the kind that loves to sit on terrasses drinking wine or a Café au Lait. They have some great underground theatre, and the night life is really good as well.
