used to be science teacher, but now cannot read .even a newspaper, does not recognise the words it is not demensia I worked with people who have that

You may have suffered a mild to moderate stroke without realising it, tests will be able to confirm. Also there is a form of epilepsy in older patients that often mimic dementia. I would have a full check-up in anycase.

if its only eyesight being affected see an eye specialist. sometimes dementia/Alzheimer's progresses slowly and we make excuses for their behavior because we don't want to believe it ourselves have this person see a doctor

have you check the Alzheimer's symptoms ?, sounds like front labial and and that's what it sounds like to me .
