You arent supposed to because perms and dyes have chemicals in them that can be toxic to your unborn baby.

You can try. The hormones in your body during pregnancy make the hair unable to "hold" the perm after it is done. The hair just stays straight. However, nothing is absolute so, this does not actually happen with all women. Ask your hairstylist for a recommendation. I have read in pregnancy books that the chemicals in hair dyes aren't great to put on your body while pregnant. I don't know if this is actually true. Good Luck and Congratulations (for when your baby is born)

I did you, have to go to the salon to have it done, because there are certain chemicals that you can be around when you are pregnant. If you do perm your hair, who ever does it should let you know, that you are taking a chance in the perm falling out. It is about your hormones and the changes that your body is going threw.

No you should never dye nor perm your hair and use any othere cheimicals like that while you are preganat. the chemicals can get in to your system and can harm the baby. remember what ever you put in or even on your body can and will make its way to the baby. and you dont want that type of chemical in your system it can cause alot more damage then you may think

"what to expect when your expecting" says that there hasnt really been any evidence that dying or even perming your hair can harm the baby....but i think they need to do more studying bc i wouldnt trust the chemicals. if you dye your hair at home i suppose it wouldnt be too bad bc you could wear a mask so you wont inhale the fumes. i dont think i would get a perm though cuz those fumes are enough to make me dizzy even when i wasnt pregnant...so personally i wouldnt...but if you want to dye your hair i guess its your choice.

I have heard using dyes or chemicals because of perm or highlighting is not good during pregnancy, can be harmful for baby.

YES! I have read updated materials, and have talked to my Dr. (in the past, I have 3 children now) It is safe to color and or perm/staighten, the chemicals do not pass through the bloodstream and placenta to harm the fetus

While it is highly not recommended, yes you can. I would suggest that you go to a professional and have them do it. You can go somewhere cheap, like Super Cuts and have them do both for less than $100. The quality is still superb, but 1. It is easier on you and 2. It's cheaper.

I personally would not do it. I have also known people that did attempt to do it but because of hormones, the color or perm did not "take".

Just remember, anything you take into your body while pregnant, you baby also takes in. So being by coloring your hair with chemicals, these chemicals are absorbed into your body, and eventually into your babys.
