Yes. Anyone that came from Africa and now resides in America is an African-American, this includes whites.

African-American is frequently used to represent people in the black community that once came from Africa but that is not the only definition.

No. "African American" is a race, not a designation of where someone is from. Think of it this way...If I move to Africa and have a son in Africa, that doesn't make him african American
