"PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers standout Ben Roethlisberger, the youngest quarterback to lead a team to the Super Bowl championship, broke his jaw and nose in a motorcycle accident Monday in which police say he was not wearing a helmet.
Roethlisberger, 24, was in serious but stable condition at Mercy Hospital.
Four doctors operated on Roethlisberger for seven hours to treat multiple facial fractures and "all of the fractures were successfully repaired," Dr. Harry W. Sell, chairman of the surgery department at the hospital, said Monday night.
Dr. Daniel Pituch, who led the team, said doctors were aware of no other serious injuries.
"His brain, spine, chest and abdomen appear to be without serious injury and there are no other confirmed injuries at this time," Pituch said."

romano we just changed the law here in PA and they are under enough problems right now, worrying about if they will even be back in office. I won't get into that as this isn't the place for politics. The law in place is basically the law the residents in this State want. Also you people never hear that you are required to either pass a motorcycle safety course or have enough hours riding before you are allowed to go without a helmet.
As to his injuries I think that was pretty well covered by others.

A broken nose and a jaw. And of course plenty of scratches and bruises, especially on his face.
Can't stress enough. If you ride a motorcycle, wear your helmet! If your state of residence doesn't care to make it a requirement or law, than be at least responsible for your own health and actions and wear one. Even if others may laugh at you, because it may look stupid or uncool to wear the helmet, they are the ones who are stupid.
I hope that this incident will be an example which will make the Pensylvania authorities change their laws about wearing the helmets.
By the way, let's forget about Ben R. for a moment and tune our ears and eyes to the WORLD OF SOCCER (sorry, FOOTBALL) - the most important sports competition in the world at this time. GO Football !!! World Cup - Germany 2006!!! La Copa Mundial - Alemania 2006 !!!

The doctors here in Pgh released a statement earlier tonight and the complete list of his injuries are:
Broken upper and lower jaw;
Mild concussion;
Fractured nose;
Multiple head cuts and bumps and bruises;
Two lost teeth;
Several other chipped teeth.
Jones said there is no evidence of any major structural damage to the quarterback's knees, which contradicts some news reports.

If seat belts are required nationwide, then why arent helmets? It shouldn't be up to the people to vote. If that were the case on every safety law, then we wouldn't have any seat belt laws. If everyone wants to keep paying higher rates on their vehicle insurance, then feel free to not wear a helmet. I've heard from too many people that ride motorcycles from Harley to crotchrockets, "It's not if you're gonna put it (motorcycle) down, but when."
