If a person puts a very small amount (less than 250 mg) of a cyanide(potassium cyanide, for example) on his tongue,it would be more than sufficient to kill him in less than 5 seconds.

The LD50 is the lethal dose that is required to kill 50% of a test population that ingests it.

So 50% would die, 50% would live (but probably be sick). It typically doesn't take much more of a compound to kill much higher percentages of the population.

It is given in mg of compound per kg of body weight of the animal (mg/kg)

You want the Human LD 50 for cyanide...probably potassium or sodium cyanide (ingested).
Hydrogen cyanide can be inhaled, and is even more toxic.

For many mammals this is about 4.5 mg/kg.

Assuming this holds for humans, then a 80kg person (176 lbs) would require 360 mg.

Generally 100-200 mg is enough to for someone to go into a coma and die of cardiac arrest. Time cannot really be judged, as that's based on the individual who accidentally ingests the cyanide, but that can vary based on the largeness of the body, speed of consumption, amount of food in the stomach to absorb the cyanide etc. In general, the will be unconscious in less than a minute.

I believe the minimum is around 200mg. Of course, a couple hundred grams would definitely do it...
