Yes, they can. Sunburn is the process of burning the skin, not the color of the skin.

Sure! Black people get sunburnt. My black friend seem to have got more sunburnt than me last summer. She can withstand the sun much longer than I can because the skin is dark it is like wearing sunshades all over your body but like sun shades with out uv protection and over exposure you still get burn. She doesn't need to wear 30 sunsscreen. 15 is o.k. Some of the fairer skined black people burn even faster and there are some who get burned without showing because the colour of the skin hides the burns. In those cases it is very painful for the person and they have a constant itch. Those who cannot stand the itch put the nails into it and it shows as a rash instead of ordinary skin peeling.

Yes, but they get sunburnt less easily because their skin has more melanin (which is what makes the skin black) which is the skin's way of protecting against the sun. Black people are black because they are historically adapted to living in very sunny conditions, just in the same way that white people developed longer, thinner nostrils to deal with colder air (longer thinner nostrils allow cold air more time to be warmed before hitting the lungs) in colder northern climates.

Yes, all skin types and colors can burn and cause severe damage. Think about what you learned in grammar school about colors and heat. Darker skin actually attracts more light, but produces a higher natural spf than fairer shades. It's also a fact that ethnic minorities tend to frequent beaches and tanning boths far less than caucasian people. Therefore their rate of skin damage and aging is slower. There's a saying "Black don't crack", which is way of saying blacks and other dark minorities tend to age better than their caucasian counterparts. We all have the same skin, but it's our practices in our youth that make the difference when we are older.

Yes we do. We do have more melanin in our skin and more pigment, but we do burn and peel and we need to also wear sunblock on a daily basis. Just because we are black doesn't mean we don't burn and don't need to take care of our skin. We do...Our skin is very sensitive.

They have more melanin in their skin to give it a darker color, but this does not give them immunity to being sunburned. It may noit be visible at first glance, but if you look closer, you will see evidence of sunburn.
