A meeting was the original name for a gathering to discuss a topic or topic(s). A conference, which to some degree can also be called a meeting is a more open forum. A seminar on the other hand is normally some type of class and a learning experience. Most Seminars charge a fee and have (or we hope) a qualified speaker/teacher speaking. Seminars are normally not interactive, except when asked if there are any questions. Meetings and conferences are normally interactive.
