It's not a "latest trend." Chicken and dumpings has been around for ages. It's a staple that was easy and inexpensive to make. They're very popular in the south.

More chicken and less dumpling and thicker broth...really in Tennessee that is quite a popular homemade dinner item.

I never liked chicken and dumplings til I used a tip a friend gave me.
Instead of using can biscuits or anything doughy like that.....get a pkg of flour tortillas and dice them into bite size chunks.

add them to your chicken broth (which should be seasoned with salt and pepper to taste) ,chicken chunks, and milk to taste.....next separately in a cup mix a grue of water and flour slowly pour what you want -- to thicken it to the consistency of your choice.

My family loves them.

I LOVE CHICKEN AND DUMPLINS...but I've had it all my life. It's aa southern thing. I don't know fi they have it up north, but I have it a lot down here in tx.
