It is heritage or genetic ancestry. It is tracing the parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents, etc. of an individual to see where he or she came from.

bloodline refers to an individuals ancestors that are related thru blood, not thru marriage. For example my wifes parents are not my bloodline, but they are my daughters bloodline.
