From an American prospective I think they are a little diplomatically reckless with some of their statements. They are a very real threat, more than Iraq ever was, they control the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passageway that a large percentage of all oil passes through on tankers. They have a navy that is developing what they herald as the fastest surface-to-surface missile. And not to mention I think they are like the second leading oil producing nation. The way they want to develop nuclear energy and there open contempt for Israel make them a real mystery as to their intentions.
On the other hand I can partly empathize if they are rattling their swords. A far off world power has waged war on both borders (Afghanistan & Iraq) leaving them surrounded. What if during the Cold War the UN told the United States that we could not develop nuclear weapons? We'd be a little irritated with the world community too.
The good thing is that recent diplomacy has lowered the tensity between the West and Iran. Perhaps the Bush administration has taken something from this and can put diplomacy before threats of military action like it should be. Even if Iran did get its hands on any kind of weapons-grade plutonium or uranium, it would take approximately twelve years to develop it into a weapon.
The other good news is that the World Cup is going on right now, and Massoud their president, like much of the rest of the world, is a soccer freak, so all nuclear ambitions are on hold for now LOL.

that is a very broad question.....I am not really sure. Kind of uneasy as to why they are so gung ho on this nuclear thing all the sudden. The president seems kind of nutty. If they really want it for peaceful purposes then ok...but I am doubting that. I think the president wants a weapon to blow someone up. He has said some pretty off the wall stuff. I think the country has alot of potential...if they can get their heads of their asses. It is hard for a country to progress and still maintain old (sometime barbaric) traditions. You can not move forward and stay back at the same time.

I think standing up and sitting down about Iran.
Then I stop, have a cup of tea and slice of nice cake and think about some other things.
Stop the bombs
(in case Iranian boss subscribed to Yahoo Answers or he is the person who has asked question so he knows whether or not to bomb the west)

Their interest in nuclear power is likely bases in there knowing how much / little oil they have left, no just as a deterrent.
