Me and my wife had been trying for a baby for a few years. We are starting to approach the critical time where if we dont do it now, we probably never will be able to. However 8 months ago my wife was driving home and was involved in a car crash. From that moment she slipped into a coma and has still not woken up. Myself and the doctors are confident she will awake sometime, its just a case of when. However when she does pull through i fear it could be too late for her to concieve. My idea is to sleep with her while she is in her coma and hope she falls pregnant. Therefore we dont miss this opportunity. I know this is what she would want. As she is my wife by law i assume i have the right to do this to her? I havent asked the doctors as i feel this may be frowned upon by the medical community but shes my wife so i should be able to do to her what i want. Does anyone know whether it is possible for her to fall pregnant while in a coma?

She's been in a coma for 8 months? I'm sorry but it sounds pretty grim. Also you don't have the right to stick your dick in her as and when you want. As someone else said on here, that's rape. I seriously hope you think about this and decide against it. You should be more concerned with whether or not she actually comes out of the coma than wondering if you can get her pregnant while no one is looking. Also if she does get pregnant you're going to get found out. There's also medical risks to her and any baby she might have, plus if she never comes round you'll be left to look after a child with no mother.
Go home and think about this long and hard.

Without her consent it would be rape, whether she is your wife or not. & how would you know she would want you to have sex with her? she is in a coma the last thing on her mind is sex.
But if you decide to do it anyway & all her bodily functions are still working without the need for medical interference then she could still get pregnant, but worst case scenerio, if she falls pregant & don't wake up, she could lose the baby or you could be a single father. There are lots of children that need adopting & loving homes, so when she pulls through & you can't have children maybe adopting is an option?

Oh really? Wife in a coma for 8 months? Then how is she bringing you son home on Sat? You know, the kid you are afraid will get computer germs....

just in case you wanted an ansewer anyway though. I'd be for it. If I was in a coma, I wouldn't care if my hubby got me pregnant. I just think he'd feel weird about it if it didn't take the first time. I doubt he'd try again and again.

Depending on where you live, the hospital may be able to harvest her eggs and freeze them. Many women are now starting to do this, harvesting eggs when they are young and healthy however not using them until they are older and ready for children.
Obviously you will need to undertake IVF at a later stage when you and your wife are ready to move forward into parenthood. You should talk to your wife's medical team about this option, I believe as her husband you should be able to consent to this on her behalf.
You will find that if your wife is not able to consent to sex, then you could be charged with statutory rape. Just becuase you are married, doesn't give you the automatic right of having sex. I would imagine that a court would come down hard on you for this.

why would you want to have sex with your wife while she is in such a fragile state. you could kill her by doing this.or like someone else said end up in jail to say the least. talk to her doctors about options, you may not have any until she wakes up. while in a coma she may not be strong enogh to stay pregnant. after she probably is on at least onform of life support. dont you think her body has enough to do while recovering from this terrible accident. dont be selfish. how old are you two. she could still get pregnant up til she turns fifity, these days all kinds of things are possible. dont have sex with your comatose wife.thats just wrong. talk with her doctors they will help you if they feel its ethical. if not just wait and see if she wakes up. i am soo sorry this is happening to your family. I think there's a more ethical way to go about this.
First of all it's dangerous for the coma patient and the fetus during pregnancy. The doctor's would tell you this.
Second instead of sex with her, find a surrogate to carry a baby for you with your wife's egg and your sperm.

I am sure your doctors *would* refuse to allow you to carry through on your plan. There is a term for what you are planning--rape. What's more, if she *did* get pregnant, you would land in jail, as they would have evidence of the rape. The child would presumably land in the foster care system; you will never become a father this way.

Well, I guess technically she could get pregnant, but if you've been trying a long time anyway, chances are not straight away. Is she still having periods whilst comatose? Personally I think you'd be better trying to persuade doctors to harvest her eggs, than letting you 'rape' her whilst she's so poorly.

i dont think i would do that...what would happen if you did get your wife pregnant and she didnt wake up or she didnt wake up til months after the baby was born? your wife prolly would want to experience pregnancy and taking care of her newborn....not waking up to a year old baby
