I've heard early morning or late evening. I've also heard in the middle of the night is the time to do it.

Early morning . The water has a chance to soak in and the water that is on the grass will evaporate rapidly to keep your lawn from developing a mold problem . Watering in the evening tends to promote the growth of molds

It's funny to see how many wrong answers there are. The best time to water is early in the morning. Between 6AM-9AM. The reason for this is it is cool and the water can absorb into the soil the most efficiently. It then dries out during the day. You do not want to water in the evening since there is no time for the grass to dry out and it will create fungus and disease on your lawn. Middle of the day is also bad because water evaporates in the heat of the sun so you waste water and also the drops on the grass blades act like a magnifying glass and burn the lawn. So water after sunrise in the morning for about an hour every 3 days, 2 days if really hot and dry. Hope this helps.

The best time to water your grass is either early morning before the sun hits it or late day when the sun is setting (Dusk) Unless you want to be up watering in the middle of the night it's not going to make a difference if you water your grass then.

Early morning is the best time, before the sun hits the grass, because if you water it in the evening, there is a chance that it will grow fungus at night (no, I dont know why, its what the experts tell me).

Never water plants at night, but, early iin the monrning..

I wish you well

early morning is better the lawn will get more of the water that you put down and will not evaporate so much also you would think that under that slandered of thinking that at night would be better but if you water at night all the time than you will most likely get stuff growing in your lawn you don't want like mushrooms and fungus silver dollar and so on it stays wet on the surface to long so early morning is the best !!!!!

It should be twice (in summers) Late Morning before Noon and early evening.

But if u water it just once .....it shud be Late Morning but before Noon.

According to me middle of the night of the night is not only inconvinient but plants use sunlight to prepare food and utilize the minerals in water during this process ....so logically daytime sounds wise and convincible

Late evening as the sun is going down. This way the water can soak in over night without any worry of it evaporating.
