There are a number of reasons.

When slavery was abolished, not all black slaves were really released from their bonds. They were told that they had to serve as soldiers and they were disproportionately place in the front lines as "cannon fodder".

About 97 percent of Argentina's 39 million inhabitants describe themselves as white.

Indeed, most Argentines are of Spanish and Italian descent with almost half believed to be eligible for Italian passports. A long-running joke is that an Argentine is an Italian who speaks Spanish and thinks he's British.

I looked at a slew of Argentinian Soccer Team photographs and sure enought...not blacks.

immigration to argentina was mostly from europe, so there are just very very few black argentinians, and nobody made it to the national team

i doubt that. i am sure there are blacks there...there's every race practically everywhere. i mean gosh there's asian french people, black french, black germans, etc....maybe all the blacks in argentina just don't play football! :)
