Just bought.....any info would be great. 1st time bike owner. Any special motorcycle oil required? or can I just head down to the auto store and buy store brand auto motor oil. Also, Engine coolant? Tune-up? Seat Repair? What should I avoid? What is recommended? Thanks for any info :) I couldn't find much on the web about this bike........

Your best bet is to find a Haynes or Chilton's service manual for your CX500 and use it as a reference for maintaining and repairing your bike. If you can't find one at your local book store or motorcycle shop, then try Amazon.com or eBay. This book should help you with questions about tune-ups and service adjustments on your bike.
You will need to use engine oil specifically formulated for motorcycle engines (not 2-stroke oil), because the CX500 has a wet clutch, and motorcycle oil has additives in it to keep the clutch from sticking or burning. For engine coolant, you should drain, flush and refill the cooling system with a good quality brand of automotive anti-freeze, mixed 50/50 with distilled water.
If the seat is torn, you can probably have it repaired or recovered at any local auto upholstery shop in your area, or check some of the Internet parts and accessory vendors for a seat cover or replacement seat. Here's a couple of parts vendors I use, who also have free catalogs...

Go to you rlocal Honda dealer. They'll advise you. Motorcycle oil is a slightly different formulation than reg motor oil, so I would use the Honda oil. Make sure you check your tires for dry rot (hairline cracks) which could be deadly. If it were me, I'd probably have my dealer go over the whole bike, and fix anything safety or reliability related.

i think the first thing would be to read as much about your bike as possible. no "special oil" but the right oil is important. Speaking for myself, i try to take it easy for the first month on a bike i'm not used to.but the urge to torque up the bike can be overwhelming. it takes me about a month before i'll start riding up on one wheel. and i use a "brain bucket". good luck
