Yes, if you kiss the recruiting sergeant seductively.

Don't think so. The army has become very liberal, and it is therefore unethical to discriminate against someone for their sexual preference.
My boyfriend avoided compulsary military service by claiming to be claustrophobic, a heavy smoker, and unable share a room with anyone.
Don't use your sexual preference as a get-out-of-jail card. Gay's have enough discrimination to contend with. Make up some white lies, and hope for the best!
Good luck!

Why would you want to avoid service? Are you a comy ? Are you a terrorist sympathiser? WTH when 9/11 happened i was ready to reenlist just to be able to go over and shoot me a terrorist!!
Military service is one of the most honarable and self gratifying experiences you can have.
Last i knew no you could not avoid service by being gay.

compulsory military service is vile, i would rather shoot 100 of my own countrymen in protest than a single "enemy combatent" because my government told me too.
Represent the real voice of your people and lay your weapons down, together we can overthrough the opressors who subjugate the working man an instill a fairer society that has no need to resort to violence at the drop of a hat
If you are already in service, just refuse to follow orders, worse thing that can happen is military prison which beats getting shot at for an illegal cause

If you are in Already.... I'm not sure if you can get out for it anymore. The best way to avoid Military service is to not join. It's still an all voluntary military in the U.S.

most country's now have a " we don't ask, nor do we care policy" so just stop bitching about it, do your time, you never know it might make you a man, as for "avoiding all that being shot at thing" you could step into the road and get hit by a F**king bus

It is a possibility, but do not count on it, if they need you they will get you anyway, there is other things you can during your service period, but you are not going to be shot, at least in the kitchen.

There are many jobs in the military, and they do not all put you in harms way. The gay thing is out. They will not ask and if you tell them they will not pay you no mind.

Depends which country you're in. In UK, we don't have military service, but you can't leave the army just for being gay...
