Tricky one, personally I'd say deaf because I just find some sights so amazing, so breath-taking, that I'd rather see them and not hear them if I had to make that choice. You've always got your other senses, so to smell something might be almost as good as hearing it, as well as touching, etc. It would be annoying though coz people could speak up on you, I guess that goes for either really. Also, you wouldn't have much trouble sleeping if you could see but not hear, the other way round could be really frustrating.

Um, as for the second question, I think it depends which sense you lose. If I lost my sight, I'd be devastated to no longer be able to see what I hold dear and it would grieve me to be unable to watch people grow, things change. If I had been blind from birth I mightn't miss it so much. With deafness though, at least if you had had some experience you'd know what things were supposed to sound like and could perhaps substitute certain sounds in your head.

Bizarre, what a good question - very thought provoking (and a time waster, I'm supposed to be working!!!)

Before anyone says it, I meant no offence to anyone who is already deaf or blind.

I would rather be deaf and definately later on in life, i think i could learn sign language and lip reading fairly easily. If deaf from young my ability to pronounce words would be limited, as in order to learn to speak its useful to first hear what words sound like. I would hate to be blind the thought of never seeing another sun set, or rose or my childrens faces would break my heart, and if i had been born blind i think i would always feel robbed of colours.

I'd rather be deaf (but I'll miss music a lot). I would prefer later. Although it would be harder to know that you lost something forever you could still remember sounds (songs, voices of people etc).

god forbid if one of the 2 choices happened, i'd rather lose my hearing, at least you can get subtitles for tv and films, you could still read books and work and learn to lip read. being blind, you are more likely to be less independent and choices are more limited. i'd hate to lose my eye sight.

I'd rather not hear than not see, and it would be better from birth I think as you wouldn't know any different, you wouldn't know what you were missing.

Wierd question......
