For me, Japan is a unique country... Japanese value their language not only for medium for communication but also for their ideology and identity... Last April, I went to Japan for a Homestay Programme.. Japan is perfect !.

Just look at Tokyo, the capital of Japan. How come a modern urban city with a very hi-population could be the lowest crime rates city and even the lowest degree of pollution ?. This is the best thing ever !. Try to compare Tokyo with other big cities, such as London, Paris, NYC, Moscow and etc... The uniquness here is Japanese culture..

I took three (3) years of Japanese in HS as it was offered while no other Asian culture studies were. I have used some of my knowledge on average a few times per month since.

I think it's because Japan has defined itself so well - it's a very slick package. Also, the people consume A LOT of entertainment and entertainment-related products (adults and children alike).

Those things together, the packaged image and the tremendous volume of pop culture produced by Japan, would explain why it has international attention.

I live here... I can say it's an interesting place. I like it a lot, but I couldn't say it's more interesting or worth studying than another asian country.

I love reading about japan and some day plan on visiting there. My Grandmother was Japanese, I remember her a bit, but not much. I am studying Japanese, Tagalog and Spanish languages (CDs) right now. I find them all as equally as intriguing as the next! Japanese is hard to speak but very fun to me and my kids love it too. ^_^

At the end of WW2 when Empiror Hirohito surrendered, he said, "There is more than one way to conquer the world." I think they are doing it. How much stuff is labled made in Japan? Toyota has enough to pay off the US national debt. Yeah-- trillions! We should all learn Japanese they may show up one day to collect.

I think Japan is the Epiphany of freedom without judgment. It is free for open thinkers. Just look at the architecture and the process of imagination. Japan has modeled after America for its innovation and creativity. Their society progresses forward without losing their identity. Japan is the leading country of the world for open ideas and the love for their people. They are truly something to admire about.
