First off, there is one franchise located outside the U.S., namely the Toronto Blue Jays. There were two, but Montreal relocated to Washington D.C. a few years back.

Secondly, the best players in the world all come to MLB to prove their mettle. Players from the U.S., Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and more make up the major league rosters. So what we are really seeing is a sort of world competition, just arranged differently than the Olympics or more recent World Baseball Classic. Instead of along nationalistic lines, the world's best players are divided amongst all the franchises.

Hope this helps!

Since the Premier league is MLB and the best players from all over the world play in this league. There have been players in MLB from Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Panama, Russia, Scotland, South Korea, Virgin Islands, Venezuela, Germany just to name a few places, remember these are just the countries with the most players to have played in MLB. Not to mention all 50 states. So I think they can call it the World Series since the best teams, with the best players from all over the world play in it.

1884 Series was touted as "for the championship of the United States," but the influential weekly Sporting Life established precedent for future Series hype by naming victorious Providence "Champions of the World."

Not exactly my friend in the super bowl they are called the World Champions. I am not really sure why probably because no other team in the world could beat us at baseball of football.
