It is not even that exciting of a game there is no stragey. It aint like basketball where you have to try and out think your opponet. Soccer is all about who is faster and who can kick a stupid ball the hardest and whos goalie can stop it. It aint even that fun to watch.

Cant you guys see that I dont care if we got be by some gay team I HATE SOCCER. So it dont matter to me if the US wins or not.

Of course there's a strategy. How you set up the team effects the balance of defense and attack. The individual skills of independant players have to taken into account when deciding where and when to play them.
The ball can be played long to get it up the pitch and to the striker, or held and passed a lot to tire the opponents.
Yahoo answers needsa a seperate section just to discuss the tactics there are so many! I assume from your commenst that you are an american and are therefore utterly terrible at the sport. It may suprise you to know that the rest of the world doesn't think much of most of the sports you guys play either...

As a former high school soccer player, I can tell you that soccer is a game of TRUE endurance, competition, and strategy. Learning more about the game can sometimes create more interest and certainly playing it can help with understanding how fun soccer really can be. You've got beaten by the Czechs, and now you're acting like this. And, no matter what you say, I like watching football(even though I'm a girl), and it's fun! And I think that it's a strategy game, too! It's not just about kicking the ball and who's faster. Football is more than that! This game has got spirit!

And the reason it has no credibilty in Australia or the US is because the players are a bunch of cry babies. I mean just look at the England/Paraguay match. Players went down and squeeled like they needed a complete knee re-construction yet within 5 minutes they were up and running around again!
