There are different criteria in different situations. Some stores offer senior dicounts on certain days to people over 55. There are some circumstances that recognise seniors at 62 years. Many discounts open up for seniors at 65 years. (I believe that as our population ages we will see senoir discounts diminish or the age limit raised). It is always best to ask everywhere you go and just maybe you will qualify for that senior advantage.

I joined AARP at 50 but thats all I the special treatment Ive gotten so far.
AARP mainly tries to sell me stuff yet I still dont get any disounts.

After you hit 50, then senior citizen staus, in your mind, will always be at least 5 yrs. older than you are at the time!
