Because when they are not being "taking care of"... and I don't mean SEXUALLY only... they will look for ways to get their needs met.
It's just that simple.
A content woman seldom strays.
The same is true of men... except... woman are less likely to see THEIR PART in it.

The thrill affair - the illicit nature of an affair brings with it an adrenaline rush. Add to that the excitement of sex with someone new and the romantic trimmings of a fresh relationship, and it can seem irresistible.
The three's company affair - can go on for years; it can also describe a string of successive affairs. Some people find it difficult to commit to one person; they feel stifled by monogamy and fear putting all their emotional eggs in one basket. Having a third person on the scene can provide an outlet for difficult emotions.

I don't know why anyone has affairs, not just married couples. It displays a base lack of respect for your partner and clearly indicates that the person is not happy in the relationship. Why stay with someone if you are not happy?! You wouldn't make a fool of someone you truly loved. It is an issue i feel very strongly about and it makes me sad, angry and disappointed when every day you hear another story. I am an open minded person and feel people are entitled to do as they choose with only one condition....that it doesn't emotionally, mentally or physically hurt anyone else.

I don't think man(or woman) was designed to be monogamous--we are animals after all--and you don't see a monkey signing a wedding certificate do you? They see another monkey walking past and offer a banana!!!! Human beings get bored too easily with life--and a little excitement livens that boredom. Only thing that separates us really from the more basic animals is our web of emotions--and these invariably the reason why an affair is A)found out,B)traumatising to one of the partners,C)an excuse to get out of relationship or D) a short thrill.

Their are many reasons for extra- maritial affair , maybe they can't satisfied with their partner , some of taste a difference for enjoyment , some are bored with thier actual partner , some had freindship before marriage but they continue their affair with their freind .IN actually not married but bechlore are also have affairs.

I heard that some married couples don't have sex much after having kids. Maybe that's y they had affairs, or got bored?

Because there stupid and not greatful enough for what they have got, to me having affairs are really stupid y would you want to mess up a good relationship if good for a stupid fling. If they are not happy in there relationship then end the relationship because it will end either way.

people who are small minded,brain-less,completely selfish & abliviouse to the feelings of there partner have affairs; before i completely exploede, my answer is that people through there own self worth have to prove to themselves that they still have what it takes to pull! etc, sometimes it's tit for tat, get a life!!!. while not in a relationship at the moment i still fell a far greater ego to be able to tell my mates that iam faithfull to my partner, tell the sinics to try it ,if nothing else to the wise it is secret bosting & keeping you safe from any danger & misery that will shurly result as cilean deon sings think twice!!!!

I've given up having an "affair"... An open marriage is much better... As many as you want without having to sneak around... ;)

I think its sad that people would rather have an affair than sort out their problems, things were better in the old days!
