I have worked there ,been there 8 times spending 2 months there at a time.I wanted to live there it is so nice.The locals are wonderful people and I have made many good friends there.If you go then everybody will want to look after you.Say hi to Mauritius from me.'Ki latak ?' [What's up?]

Have visited Mauritius on five different occasions. Beautiful island with lots to do and see. People are very gracious and helpful.
Budget wise, a nice guest house runs 30 Euros per night. A four star hotel can be found at less than 100 Euros per night if you do the research. For meals count on 10 to 40 Euros per day depending on your "taste".
Would recommend the south side of the island near the international airport - Blue Bay with less tourists. Nice scuba diving there too.
Transportation is exceptional. Would recommend hiring a taxi that runs around 25 Euros maximum per day.

Been several times. Beautiful place, great people. Its a laid back holiday, so if you want to unwind let the breeze brush gently through your hair and watch the world got by, its your place.

I was very disappointed the diving was poor, water wasnt clear, and not much else to to do there, but lay on the beach which you can to anywhere.
