i like gloves .... mine have the wrist wraps. I really like the support when lifting heavy.
as far as what the other person said about a weight belt giving you good posture.... I feel that weight belts cause more problems with beginners than good. i think many people put on a belt and think that it will prevent them from getting hurt..... simply not true...
no belt or wrap or glove can protect you more than proper technique.

No they will cause the bar to slip when the weight is heavy. Also the gloves tend to get loose and shift on your hand this could cause you to drop the weight.

If your hands are sore. Just keep with it shortly you will build calouses and your hands will get use to it.

If you are sliping due to sweaty hands then 1. carry a gym towel and dry your hands before each lift or 2 use weight lifting chalk. If you gym does not allow chalk or you find it annoying like I do find rock climbing chalk. It is suspended in a clear liquid that you rub on.

I would not go with chalk unless you are deadlifting huge amounts of weight. I would use a gym towel and work on building your calouses on your hands.

I work for the government as a fitness specialist, and I have never experienced the problems with weight-lifting gloves that the other replies have stated. I use them, and so does several of clients. If anything, I have more grip, and they protect my hands, so it is a no-brainer for me. They are far from absolutely necessary, but if it makes it more comfortable for you, go for it!

Only if your hands get sweaty and may cause you to drop your weights or give you improper form. If you are not a sweaty-hand type, then it's not necessary.
