Jimmy Connors is certainly one of my idols. By his own words, he always gave 110% to working hard on-court. However, Jimmy's game suffered from a lack of topspin. In todays game, Jimmy's flat (no spin) game would be crushed like an ant.
It seems trite to say that Roger Federer has the best game of all time, but it's absolutely true. The reason is that Roger's game is completely well-rounded. In fact, instead of concentrating on his strengths, Roger concentrated on his weaknesses.
After all, you're only as strong as your weakest link.
And, because Roger has the least amount of weaknesses of anyone who has ever played the game, he's not only the greatest of all time, but I predict he'll remain on top longer than anyone ever has.

Sorry, no. Conners was a gifted player and a great fighter, but he's not close to best ever. Mac was a much more gifted player and exhibited equal passion. Borg was another contemporary who demonstrated superior skill and on numerous surfaces. Laver and Sampras far surpasses Conners in terms of accomplishments. Conners is a real tennis icon and a credit to the game, but "best ever"? No.
